2012 Music Trends: What's changed THIS year? |
The year is young and so we are looking at the 2012 trends that are sure to impact the rest of the musical year!
“It's too early to tell as it pertains to 2012, but commercial hip hop is on a steady downfall. Genres such as electro dance, progressive house, and dubstep are becoming substantially more commercial. Look for a lot more artists, both pop and hip hop, who will be conforming to these styles for the remainder of the year.”
-Ryan Katz, Producer at Island Def Jam Music Group

I often say since I don’t have the musical talent to be onstage it became inevitable for me to help those who do. This remains true through every step of the way whether I’m booking bands for a venue or writing articles for a breakthrough internet station. I take a look around and see everything around me rapidly changing: technology, music, food, environment, our way of thinking; I don’t recognize even myself sometimes. Some things morph for the better as we evolve alongside them and we hopefully tread along. I have been doing just that: looking ahead…to the so-called big picture everyone refers to. Join me, won’t you?

There are things that I expect to see when I go to a rock show…and they differ according to the music and the band. I’m a hard sell… so many years and so many shows… I won’t allow you to waste my time or money. You’re not allowed to put on an half ass show…you’re not allowed to be wasted nor are you allowed to be late….I really hate it when the band is late. Skid Row was 45 minutes late once…and when they came on stage I got up from my seat… walked straight down the aisle and out the door. I’m sure I did not miss much from them that night…besides Soundgarden was the opening act….I had already gotten my money worth of a great show!
